    AbstractWiMAXcatches people’s eye during recent years. In this paper, we introduce technical characteristic of WiMAX briefly. Then, our economic analysis focuses on two popular application areas that are small and medium enterprise (SME) data and VoIP services and home data and VoIP services. WiMAX can be deployed in some specific situation according to our analysis. Finally, we introduce the advantages and challenges that WiMAX needs to face.
