Local media report that Chinese telecom operators will stop the construction of ADSL neworks and instead they will begin to launch ADSL2+, which extends the capability of basic ADSL by doubling the number of downstream bits, in the coming two years.

    An unnamed representative from the Ministry of Information Industry has told local media that though ADSL is widely used, China is now heading towards the much more advanced ADSL2+.

    The expert said that ADSL2+ would increase downstream data speeds by up to 12 Mbit/s.
