Sprint Nextel wil luse ZyXEL Communications Inc.¡¯s WiMAX customer premise equipment (CPE) for use with its WiMAX mobile broadband network XOHM, which was announced last week.

Sprint will use ZyXEL¡¯s MAX-200 series CPE, a plug-and-play router designed for home users. It will enable Sprint to deliver last mile wireless broadband access to customers as an alternative to cable and DSL.

ZyXEL¡¯s CPE is in trial at more than 40 sites, including major deployments in Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. ZyXEL introduced its WiMAX products for the IEEE802.16e standard last year and has an all-in-one platform that combines WiMAX, Wi-Fi, VoIP and security.
