Beijing Netcom says it will start resetting connections to cut down on the network access of users who use its broadband service for a consecutive 48 hours.

This measure will affect both the monthly package and time-limit package users of the local telecommunications company.

Beijing Netcom says this measure is taken for the sake of users, for it not only helps them prevent huge amounts of Internet fees resulting from long network connections, but also saves their account from being stolen. Beijing Netcom currently charges RMB0.05 per minute for the extra time users spend online after their time-limit package is used up.
