ZTE Corporation has initiated the construction of an industry base in Tianjin's Binhai New Area.
Involving a total investment of RMB5 billion, ZTE's Tianjin facility occupies 550,000 square meters and is scheduled to be completed in 2011 with an annual output value of more than RMB10 billion.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the Tianjin facility will focus on the development of Wimax, RFID, laser television and laser display technology, and it will consist of office, a R&D center, production logistics and sales and training. Hou Weigui, president of ZTE, says that the construction of the Tianjin facility is an important part of the company's strategic layout and with the completion of the project and its operation, ZTE will introduce a batch of advanced and cutting-edge technology to form a high-end assembly with other enterprises moving into Binhai New Area in order to drive the development of the industry.
As a key high-tech enterprise in China and one of the bases for China's national 863 Program, ZTE currently owns 15 R&D centers across the world, with more than 40000 developers. In 2006, it achieved up to RMB40 billion in sales revenue.
